Timing Is Everything...

The following story is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Last week at the Windmill Harbour Real Estate office, I received a phone call from a nice lady, "Betty," who was interested in seeing some of the homes in Windmill Harbour.  She was actually calling on behalf of her friend, "Wilma," who was visiting from out-of-town, and who was considering relocating to Hilton Head Island. After some discussion about the particulars on the home Wilma would like, I set up some appointments for the following days to tour potential homes.

It so happened that on the second day of seeing homes, we were inside a home that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway. As these lovely ladies and I looked out the back window, a pod of dolphins came by, near the shore line directly behind the home we were touring! Now, dolphins are a common site around Hilton Head Island, but their timing could not have been more perfect.

As we stood there watching these amazing creatures, Betty leaned over to me, and with a smile on her face says, "How much did you pay them to do that?"

If only it were that easy...

Somewhere there's a pod of dolphins swimming around Hilton Head Island. If you are out on the water and happen to see them, throw them some fish for me, and tell them, "John says, 'Thanks!' "

Back To Work

I hope everyone had a great holiday season, and some time off with your family and loved ones! We stayed in town this year, with family coming to see us. We enjoyed the sights of the island, and even walked around Harbor Town in Sea Pines one afternoon. The crowds on the island seemed light this year, but no-one complained with less traffic and crowds to contend with. I took the photo below from the lighthouse in Harbor Town, looking back over the 18th hole and fairway where the PGA RBC Heritage Classic golf tournament is hosted.
Now that the holidays are over, I'm back to work full-swing. I spent much of my time yesterday updating the calender on the "Hilton Head Happenings" free app for Android and iPhone, as well as on my website, Hiltonheadhappenings.com . More updates and some new features are coming soon, so check back often!
On the real estate side of things, I just want to mention that an one-story foreclosure just came on the market in Westbury Park. This is a very desirable gated community is Bluffton, SC, located only about 6 miles from Hilton Head Island. About 90% of the homes in this neighborhood are 2-story, so this is a rare find! Call the office for a tour 843-757-7908.

Winter time on Hilton Head

It's a cold and rainy night on Hilton Head Island. Perfect weather for curling up with my family, watching a Christmas movie, and sipping hot chocolate in front on the fireplace. Now if we only had a fireplace...
The temperature is a cool 53 degrees. However, if you're from someplace further north, come on down; the weather's fine!

Foggy morning on HHI

This weekend was fabulous on Hilton Head Island. The weather was beautiful with temperatures in the 60's & 70's.
My family and I enjoyed the annual Bluffton Christmas parade this past Saturday. This has become a family tradition that we all look forward to throughout the year. We typically like to arrive early, camp out a good spot to watch the parade. During the waiting time, we sit and play games. This year we taught our kids how to play charades. It made for some great laughs!
This morning is a foggy one on the island. Mornings like these make for some great photo opportunities.
