It's Great Being Local!

My family and I have some long-time friends visiting us from out-of-town.  Their children had never seen the Atlantic Ocean.  They have been all over the world, and visited beaches in many different countries, but never the East Coast in the U.S.  So, we all packed up our things for a day at the beach on Hilton Head Island; coolers with food and water, beach towels, sand buckets and toys, beach umbrella, boogie boards, skimboards (my daughter and I like to ride the waves), and, of course, sunscreen.  Now comes the good part - we asked our friends whether they would like to visit one of our beaches near shopping and all amenities (and crowded with tourists), or whether they would rather go to a often-overlooked out-of-the-way beach with less crowds.  To my family's delight, they chose the latter.  So, off we went to this little spot we know about that is like our own slice of paradise.  It is always relatively crowd-free, and we had a marvelous time at the coast on a beautiful, sun-shining day on Hilton Head, SC.  We played, we ate, the kids splashed, and we all came back a little redder, but much happier and relaxed after a day well spent at our favorite beach.  It's great being local! Oh, and the kids all slept well after playing so hard. :)
P.S. - To all my skimboarding buddies out there: the waves are best at, or just after, high tide.
