3rd Annual Arts Festival

Shelter Cove Harbour will host the 3rd annual Hilton Head Island Art Festival this weekend. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 28th and 29th you can view and purchase wares from more than 100 artists. More details can be found at www.artfestival.com.

Hudson's Restaurant

Congratulations to Hudson's Restaurant, winner of the Island Packet's 2011 Reader's Choice Award for Best Seafood Restaurant! Hudson's is located on the north end of Hilton Head Island, and prides itself on serving "fresh local seafood."

Semi Tropical

Hilton Head Island is a semi-tropical island. In this picture you can see palm trees naturally growing alongside other tree types and vegetation.

Main Street Youth Theatre

Beginning this Friday, May 20th, the Main Street Youth will present Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at Shelter Cove Park.  The Main Street Youth Theatre first began in the early 1990's, and now produces about 5 or 6 full scale musicals per year.  The MSYT's goal is "to create a family-centered community-based theater where the performers are local children, parents and community adults."

The Broad River

The Broad River Bridge in Beaufort County, SC, is approximately 1.5 miles long.  The Broad River effectively divides the county into two sections, with the town of Beaufort lying "North of the Broad," and Hilton Head Island being "South of the Broad." The Broad River bridge can be seen in the distance, across the marsh, in the photo.

Callawassie Island

Are you familiar with Callawassie Island?  It is located between Hilton Head Island, and Beaufort, along the Colleton River.  They recently renovated their River Club, and have implemented some exciting new changes!  Today, the community held a "Realtor Day" to introduce these changes to area real estate agents, and to showcase some of the homes currently on the market on Callawassie Island.  To learn more, contact your real estate agent, or you can contact me through my main website at HiltonHeadHappenings.com .

Sailing Around Hilton Head Island

If you are on the Hilton Head Island on Friday, May 20th, look for the sailboats on a trip around our island.  The Hilton Head Plantation Yacht Club has invited South Carolina Yacht Club to join them in a sail around Hilton Head.  They plan to begin around 9:30/10:00 a.m., and the journey should last about 6-7 hours.  It should be a pretty sight to see those sails making their way around the island!

Warm weather

It got into the 90's today! An unseasonably warm day made for a good day at a local park in Bluffton. If you are still fighting cold weather, come down and visit the island...the water's great!

Tour of Windmill Harbour

I've been working today on creating a tour of Windmill Harbour on Hilton Head Island. It's still a little rough, but here's a preview photo for my readers.

Savannah

Had lunch today in Savannah. Did you know that Savannah is only 30 to 45 minutes from Hilton Head? It's a great place to visit for the day before escaping back to the quiet tranquil of the Hilton Head Island beaches. :)

Sailing

It's a beautiful day again on Hilton Head Island, SC. The temp is in the 70's, sun is shining, and birds are singing. This photo was taken from the private lock in Windmill Harbour.

Intercoastal on Hilton Head

The weather has been great here on Hilton Head! This picture was taken on Hilton Head Island, looking over the intercoastal waterway. As you can see, the skies are clear, the sun is shining, and the water is blue!
